This simple pop cover required inordinate amounts of research. Barbara and I both remembered hearing 'Cast Your Fate To The Wind' sung by a female vocalist in the 60's, but on requesting a tape from the song's UK publisher, we were bemused to discover that the original recording was an instrumental. Further queries revealed that 'Sounds Orchestral' had a UK hit with the song in 1964, and an American publisher kindly sent us a couple of other versions (including one by the composer, Vince Guaraldi), but the mysterious female singer we remembered so vividly was nowhere to be heard. Does anyone know who she was? If you have a copy of her recording, we'd love to hear it.
You probably couldn't care less why we glued these two songs together, but for those like to know the professionals' secrets, here are the reasons:
1. They are both summery sea songs.
2. They use the same three chords - A, D and E.
